About this product
A mattress you can wash, in effect.
Cotton terry on top, a thin waterproof membrane underneath, and a fitted skirt that goes on like a sheet. Spills stop at the surface and the whole thing goes in the machine.
A mattress is one of the few things in a house that cannot be washed. This is the layer that can.
Cotton terry on top, a thin polyurethane membrane underneath, and a fitted skirt that stretches over the corners like a sheet.
Four sizes, black or white, and it goes in the washing machine with the bedding.
The argument for a mattress protector is short. A mattress costs hundreds or thousands of dollars, it lasts about a decade, and there is no way to wash one. Everything that happens on a bed over ten years, perspiration, a spilled drink, a child, a dog, an illness, happens directly to it. A protector takes all of that instead and goes in the machine.
This one is built the way a protector should be: terry cotton on the side you touch, and the waterproof layer on the underside facing the mattress. A liquid hits the terry, spreads, and stops. You have time to strip the bed rather than a stain you cannot reach.
It is not a plastic sheet. The membrane is thin polyurethane rather than vinyl, it lets air through, and it does not crackle when you turn over. That matters more than it sounds, because a protector that is uncomfortable comes off the bed and then protects nothing.
The skirt is elasticated all the way round and fits a mattress up to about 40cm deep, which covers most Australian mattresses including a pillow top. Measure the depth rather than going by the name of the bed frame, and if you are close to the limit, ask us first.
Colour is chosen at the checkout, black or white. It makes no difference to the fit or the price; it is there because a protector shows under a pale sheet.

Why do I need a mattress protector when I already have sheets?
Your sheets protect your mattress protector, but the protector is what actually saves your mattress investment. Think of it this way - a quality mattress costs hundreds or thousands of dollars. Our bed cover creates an invisible shield against spills, sweat, allergens, and body oils that sheets can't block. Without one, you're risking permanent stains and voiding your mattress warranty (most require a protector).
Will this make my bed feel hot or uncomfortable?
Not at all. Unlike old-style plastic protectors that trap heat, our bed cover uses breathable materials that allow air circulation while blocking liquids. You'll sleep at your normal temperature. Many customers actually report sleeping cooler because the protector wicks away moisture from night sweats.
Is it really 100% waterproof?
Absolutely. Our waterproof barrier stops all liquids - from spilled drinks to pet accidents to unexpected bodily fluids. The liquid sits on top of the protector, giving you time to clean it up before it ever reaches your mattress. We've tested it with everything from red wine to coffee, and it works every single time.
How does it protect against allergens and dust mites?
The tightly woven fabric creates a physical barrier that dust mites, allergens, and bacteria can't penetrate. This means they can't colonize your mattress, which is especially important since you spend 8 hours a night breathing just inches from it. Customers with allergies or asthma often notice improvements within the first week.
Will I hear crinkling noises when I move around?
Zero noise. We specifically designed this to be whisper-quiet because we know how annoying crinkly protectors are. You won't even know it's there - your partner definitely won't hear it.
How do I know it will fit my mattress?
The fitted skirt stretches over a mattress up to about 40cm (16 inches) deep and works on memory foam, hybrid, innerspring, latex and pillow top alike. Choose the size that matches your mattress, and measure the depth if you think you are close to the limit.
Can I use this with a mattress topper?
Yes, absolutely. Many customers use it over their mattress topper for extra protection, or under the topper depending on their preference. Either way works perfectly.
Will it work on an adjustable bed?
Definitely. The elastic edges and stretchable fabric move with your adjustable base, staying securely in place through all positions - flat, elevated, zero gravity, you name it.
This seems expensive for a mattress cover. Is it worth it?
Here's the thing - replacing a stained mattress costs $500 to $3,000+. Our bed cover is a one-time investment that protects that mattress for years. Plus, most mattress warranties require a protector - without one, any stain voids your warranty completely. It's not an expense, it's insurance for your sleep investment.
How long will this last?
With proper care (washing every 1-2 months), our bed covers typically last 3-5 years or longer. Many customers have been using the same protector for over 5 years and it still works like new. Compare that to replacing a mattress because of one accident.
Do I really need one if my mattress is new?
Especially if your mattress is new! That's exactly when you want protection - not after the first stain. Most mattress warranties become void the moment any stain appears, even a small one. Starting with a protector from day one means your mattress stays pristine and fully warrantied.
What if I spill something and it doesn't work?
Tell us. If a protector lets liquid through in normal use, that is a fault, and under the Australian Consumer Law we repair, replace or refund it at no cost to you. Email the team with your order number and a photograph.
Is it hard to wash?
Super easy. Just throw it in the washing machine with your regular sheets, tumble dry on low. It's actually easier than washing a comforter. We recommend washing every 1-2 months, or immediately after any spills.
Will it shrink in the wash?
No shrinking. Our bed cover is pre-shrunk and maintains its size wash after wash. The elastic stays strong too, so it keeps fitting perfectly.
Can I use bleach on it?
No. The care instruction for this protector is no bleach: it shortens the life of the waterproof membrane. An ordinary detergent on a warm gentle cycle does the job, and a hot wash is not needed either.
How often do I actually need to wash it?
We recommend every 1-2 months for regular maintenance. If you have allergies, pets, or someone gets sick, wash more frequently. After any spill, wash immediately. It's so easy to clean that you'll probably wash it more often than needed.
I have kids - will this handle bedwetting accidents?
That's exactly what it's designed for. The waterproof barrier completely blocks all liquids, and the protector is washable, so accidents become a minor inconvenience instead of a mattress-destroying disaster. Parents tell us it saves their sanity (and their wallets).
We have pets that sleep on the bed. Will this help?
Absolutely. Pet accidents, drool, muddy paws - our bed cover handles it all. The waterproof barrier protects against any liquid, and the fabric is durable enough to withstand claws without tearing. Plus it washes easily, so pet hair and dander come right out.
What sizes are available?
The waterproof protector comes in Single, Double, Queen and King. The bamboo protector and the mattress bags add California King, so five sizes. Each size on the page carries its centimetres, so measure the mattress rather than going by the name of the bed frame.
Is this protector safe for people with sensitive skin?
Yes, completely safe. Our bed cover is hypoallergenic, free from harmful chemicals, and OEKO-TEX certified. The soft cotton terry surface is gentle on even the most sensitive skin.
Can I return it if I don't like it?
Yes. Change of mind returns are accepted within 30 days of delivery on an unused item in its original packaging, and you pay the return postage. Australian law gives no statutory cooling-off period for an online purchase, so that window is ours rather than a legal right. If an item is faulty, damaged or not as described, the Australian Consumer Law applies and we cover it.
How does this compare to cheaper protectors?
Cheaper protectors often use plastic or vinyl that makes noise, traps heat, and breaks down quickly. Our premium materials stay quiet, breathe naturally, and last years longer. When you factor in durability and comfort, our bed cover actually costs less per year of use.
Will this protect against bed bugs?
Only partly, and it is worth being straight about it. This protector covers the top and the sides of the mattress, so it is a barrier over the sleeping surface, but it is not a zipped encasement and it does not seal the mattress. We do not currently sell a full encasement. For a confirmed bed bug problem you want a sealed encasement and, usually, a pest controller.
Does it change the feel of my mattress?
Not at all. The protector is thin and flexible, so you'll feel your mattress exactly as intended. Whether you have a plush pillow-top or a firm memory foam mattress, the feel stays the same.
How quickly does it ship?
Orders are dispatched within 1 to 2 business days and arrive in 3 to 7 business days across Australia. Express Delivery is available at $25 as a paid upgrade, and delivery is free on orders over $75.
Can I put this in the dryer?
Yes! Tumble dry on low heat. The materials are designed to handle regular machine washing and drying without damage. Just avoid high heat, which can affect the waterproof membrane over time.
Is the waterproof layer on top or bottom?
The waterproof TPU membrane is on the bottom, facing your mattress. The top surface is soft, breathable cotton terry that feels comfortable against your sheets. This design blocks liquids while allowing air to circulate.
Do I still need to use sheets with this?
Yes, we recommend using fitted sheets over the protector. The protector goes directly on your mattress, then your sheets go on top. This gives you the comfort of your favorite sheets while keeping your mattress fully protected underneath.
What's the warranty on this product?
There is no separate manufacturer warranty period published for this protector, so we do not quote one. Your Australian Consumer Law guarantees apply either way: goods must be of acceptable quality, fit for purpose and as described. Separately, most mattress warranties exclude stains, which is one of the reasons people use a protector, though the terms vary and you should check your own.
How is this packaged for shipping?
Your protector arrives compressed in a compact, eco-friendly package. Simply remove it, let it expand for a few minutes, and it's ready to use. No complicated setup required.

Why a mattress protector earns its keep
3 min readMattress Protector Company Australia
The warranty argument, honestly
Most mattress warranties exclude stains, and some are void the moment one appears. That is a real reason to use a protector and it is worth saying plainly rather than dressing up: check your own mattress warranty, because the terms vary and we cannot tell you what yours says.
Waterproof and breathable are not opposites
The old objection to a protector was that it made the bed hot and noisy, and with a vinyl sheet it did. A thin polyurethane membrane behaves differently: it blocks liquid water and still passes air and water vapour. You will notice the terry; you should not notice the barrier.
Washing is the whole point
A protector that is inconvenient to wash defeats itself. This one goes in with the sheets on a warm gentle cycle and comes out on a low tumble. Wash it every month or two, and immediately after anything lands on it. Skip the bleach and skip the iron: heat is what shortens the life of the membrane.
